An Art Piece Inspired by the "Horn," the Symbol of GINZA GEKKOSO
Founded in 1917, Gekkoso has long been cherished by many artists and cultural figures. In this historically rich space, surrounded by works of renowned artists such as Genichiro Inokuma, Bernard Leach, and Sori Yanagi, an exhibition was held at "Maison Gekkoso" from January 20 to February 2, 2025.
On the opening day, January 20, an opening party was held, welcoming Misawa's clients and associates. A special talk was also conducted with Gekkoso’s owner, Kozo Hibi, where stories about the new piece, "Horn Shoes," and the creative journey leading up to it were shared.
Maison Gekkoso showcases works by legendary artists such as Genichiro Inokuma, Bernard Leach, Sori Yanagi, Shiko Munakata, Shoji Hamada, and Keisuke Serizawa. Gekkoso itself has a rich history as a hub for artistic exchange, gathering cultural figures like Akiko and Tekkan Yosano (who designed the Horn symbol), Hakushu Kitahara, and Saneatsu Mushanokoji.
To have Noriyuki Misawa’s works displayed in such a special setting was an immense honor, filling us with deep gratitude. Paying tribute to Gekkoso, which has fostered artistic culture for over a century, we remain committed to our creative endeavors.
